Product Features
Flax (Linum usitatissimum) is an annual or perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Linaceae family. It is one of the oldest cultivated fiber crops in the world. Flaxseed oil, also known as linseed oil or hu-ma oil, is an edible oil extracted from flax seeds, which contain 35%–45% oil content, making flax a high-oil-yield crop.
Flaxseed oil is rich in α-linolenic acid (ALA), an essential omega-3 fatty acid, accounting for 45%–70% of its total fatty acid composition. In the human liver, ALA can be converted—through the action of desaturase and elongase enzymes—into EPA and DHA, which are crucial for brain, heart, and cellular health. Therefore, consuming flaxseed oil is an effective way to supplement omega-3 fatty acids in the diet, especially for those who do not consume fish.
